Structural study for enlarging an opening in a load-bearing stone wall in Villefranche-sur-Mer

As part of the refurbishment of an apartment in Villefranche-sur-Mer, OMPT STRUCTURE carried out the structural study needed to enlarge an existing opening in a load-bearing stone wall.
Before any work on the building's structure, our engineer carried out an in-depth analysis to confirm the feasibility of the works and the stability of the structure. This study defined the technical solutions suited to carrying the loads and strengthening the wall once the opening has been enlarged.

In particular, we recommended:

  • Installing temporary propping to keep the site safe during the works
  • Incorporating reinforced-concrete columns at the ends of the opening for optimal reinforcement
  • Installing a double HEA220 beam joined with a steel splice plate to spread the loads effectively

These recommendations were implemented by the contractor in charge of the works, ensuring the safety and durability of the building.

At OMPT STRUCTURE, we support our clients at every stage of their transformation projects, offering structural solutions suited to their needs and to the technical constraints of the existing building.
