Enlarging an opening in a load-bearing wall in Cagnes-sur-Mer

In Cagnes-sur-Mer, OMPT stepped in to turn an existing window into a large bay window 2.50 m wide, requiring a major alteration to the house's load-bearing wall.
The project was handled as a whole, from the structural study through to the completion of the work. The upstream study defined the sizing of the reinforcing elements needed to carry the loads after the opening was enlarged.
On site, our teams carried out the securing and propping of the structure before cutting the load-bearing wall. The reinforcement was then built with reinforced concrete columns and an HEA 200 steel beam, creating the new 2.50 m opening while ensuring the loads of the existing structure are carried.
This work replaced a standard-sized window with a wide bay window, bringing in more natural light and a larger opening to the outdoors.
OMPT handles projects to create and enlarge openings in load-bearing walls, install steel beams, build reinforced concrete columns and carry out other structural strengthening work in Cagnes-sur-Mer, Nice, Cannes, Antibes, Grasse and more widely across the Alpes-Maritimes and the Var.
